World Championship Darts Winnings: £1 Million Winner’s Prize and Every Round’s Payout

PDC World Championship winnings by round: £1 million for the champion, £400,000 for the runner-up and £15,000 for a first-round exit.

The PDC World Darts Championship winner receives £1,000,000, the runner-up £400,000, and a player knocked out in the first round £15,000. The total prize fund is £5 million. These are finishing-position awards: a player receives the amount for their final result, not the sum of every round they reached. Source: PDC prize-money announcement.

Prize money for each finishing round

As of 1 November 2026, the breakdown below is the published structure for the upcoming 2026/27 PDC World Championship, also called the 2027 championship. It uses the £5 million schedule introduced for the 2025/26 event. 2027 event reference.

Final result Players receiving this award Winnings per player
Champion 1 £1,000,000
Runner-up 1 £400,000
Losing semi-finalist 2 £200,000
Losing quarter-finalist 4 £100,000
Fourth-round loser — last 16 8 £60,000
Third-round loser — last 32 16 £35,000
Second-round loser — last 64 32 £25,000
First-round loser — last 128 64 £15,000

Award amounts: official PDC prize schedule. The player counts total 128; multiplying each award by its recipient count gives £5,000,000.

“Last 16 losers” means the eight players eliminated in that round—not all 16 players who reached it. The eight winners continue and receive the award corresponding to their eventual finishing position.

Worked example: reaching the fourth round

A player who wins their first three matches and then loses in round four earns £60,000 in tournament prize money. They do not add £15,000, £25,000 and £35,000 to that figure.

Winning that fourth-round match guarantees at least the £100,000 quarter-finalist award: an increase of £40,000. At the other end of the draw, winning the final raises the award from the runner-up’s £400,000 to £1 million—a £600,000 difference.

Why older reports say £500,000

The champion’s prize was £500,000 for the 2019–2025 championships. It doubled to £1 million for the 2026 championship, which Luke Littler won. So £500,000 is a correct historical figure, but not the current winner’s award. Source: ESPN’s championship prize-money reference.

The next event runs from 11 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 at Alexandra Palace. That cross-year schedule explains the “2026/27” label. Source: PDC event announcement.

These figures cover PDC finishing-position prize money, not separate bonuses or WDF/BDO championship payouts. For winners and prize funds across earlier seasons and other PDC events, see PDC prize funds and winners by event.
